        Yes. You need to properly ground it for reason two anyhow. The reason it helps reception is fairly simple. Most devices use the common (which you tie to ground) as a reference to tell them what 0 volts is. All electrons want to go home, which is ground. If you don’t let them have a path back home, they move around until you do. The earth’s atmosphere is chocked full of Electromagnetic energy and it creates EMI (Electromagnetic Interference). If you ground your common, it will go home and away from you. If you don’t, it can hang out on your common and fluctuate your zero volt reference point. So ground it. Good luck.
